I’ve worn pieces from the De Liguoro bijoux collection in various occasions, and I knew that they were being created in a small laboratory outside of Milan. Well said and done, I took my car (a bit far for my bike sincerely…) and my camera and went to visit Gianni De Liguoro, designer and creative mind behind the brand, (they call him Boss) since about 50 years. The workshop is small and messy, filled with prototypes, sketches, history art books and magazine mixed with the creativity that you sense in the air. It’s not an easy period for small family businesses in Italy, with the market being flooded with cheap foreign products, obviously made with less care and quality. Gianni showed me his vintage treasures and I tried on an old Miss Italy crown and other fabulous one of a kind bijoux pieces. I hope that the traditional Italian handicraft works will be rediscovered and appreciated again, it’s part of the national pride and resources. Gianni says that it’s really not an easy profession and without the passion he has for his work, it wouldn’t be possible to continue. Thanks for the visit my friends!
